Spring Cleaning. I sorta dread it. Of my daily cleaning task, tackling the glass top oven is one of the hardest things for me – especially after burning something on the surface. Take a look at this glass top cleaning tutorial, you will need 3 ingredients – Dawn, Baking Soda, and Hydrogen Peroxide.

Use Pine Sol Lemon in the bottom of a toilet brush holder. Never thought to do this but I bet the scent left behind is amazing (I mean, amazing for a gross toilet bowl brush!)

This is one of our dirtiest zones. The Microwave! Use a vinegar and water solution in a microwave safe bowl to steam clean your microwave or you can purchase an Angry Mama which will conveniently help steam away hardened food and other microwave junk in seconds.

You want to find something disgusting? Take a toothbrush and grease-cutting cleaner to splash guard of your garbage disposer. Lift the flaps and scrub them (especially the under side) Your disposer will smell better – you’re welcome!

Who knew this product could go form the car to the bathroom!? This is an awesome spring cleaning tip. Use Rain-X Spray on your glass shower doors to help repel future water scum, stains and streaks.

The Best Ever Grout Cleaner: who knew how helpful Toilet Bowl Cleaner could be!?! I have not tried this hack but I have seen it a few times and it is on my to do list next time I need to clean the kid’s bathroom tile.

Give this project to the kids. Put together tongs, microfiber dust cloths, and four rubber bands then clean the dust off those blinds. I would likely spray the cloths with Dust and Allergen Spray.

How To Clean Your Dishwasher In 3 Easy Steps! I just did this in my home and it worked great!

Step 1 – Examine the Drain
Pull the bottom rack out and examine the drain area and make sure there are no hard chunks that can plug the drain, cause damage to the pump or scratch dishes. You’d be surprised at what dishwasher repairmen find – bones, crab shells, glass shards, and even small pieces of gravel!

Step 2 – Wash Cycle With Vinegar
Place a dishwasher-safe bowl filled with plain white vinegar on the top rack of your empty dishwasher. The vinegar will help to wash away the loose, greasy grime, sanitize, and help remove the musty odor. Using the hottest water setting, run the dishwasher through a cycle.

Step 3 – Wash Cycle With Baking Soda
After the vinegar cycle finishes, sprinkle a handful of baking soda around the bottom of the dishwasher and run it through a short cycle using the hottest water. The baking soda will help further deodorize your dishwasher and help in removing any stains.

Step 4 – Wash Cycle With Bleach (OPTIONAL)
If you have problems with mold and mildew, add ½-1 cup bleach in the bottom of the dishwasher and run a full cycle.

NOTE: Do not use bleach in your dishwasher if it has a stainless steel interior. Bleach can corrode and stain stainless steel!

Each time I do this process, it leaves my dishwasher squeaky clean and smelling great, and it eliminates any standing water issues. Let’s hear it for no dishwasher repair bill!!!

Now that your dishwasher is clean and running right, here are a few important tips to help keep it that way! (Of course, you should still perform a routine dishwasher cleaning every few months or so.)

Is your shower head spraying in a lot of different directions? It might be time to give it a deep clean. Mix an equal part solution of water and vinegar.

The supplies you’ll need are:

  • Distilled White Vinegar
  • Young Living Lemon Essential Oil
  • Ziploc Sandwich Bag
  • Thick Elastic Hair Ties
  • Norwex EnviroCloth

HOW TO DO IT:

  1. To start out you want to fill your sandwich bag with distilled white vinegar. The amount that you add should depend upon the size of your shower head, but you want it submerged. I used about a cup of vinegar in my bag and added 3-4 drops of lemon essential oil. Submerge your shower head in the bag and group the bag together at the top of the shower head. Use the elastic to tie the bag on and hold it in place. You want to let the shower head sit in this mixture overnight. I made sure to do this on a weekend when Joe didn’t have to get to work early because all I could imagine was him turning the shower on at 4 am and creating a huge mess.
  2. In the morning, take the bag off of the shower head and simply wipe with EnviroCloth. I might have wiped the shower head twice, but I hardly put forth any effort due to the microfiber of the EnviroCloth. There was no scrubbing involved what so ever.
  3. Run the shower for a minute or two before hopping in so that you make sure that the vinegar and lemon oil is off of the shower head.

Next time you’re in the bathroom take a look up at your bathroom vents. Gross! If they are filled with dirt and dust, it’s likely OVER the time for some cleaning! Use warm soapy water and a Scrub Brush to clean the vent and a vacuum to suck away dirt inside the container. Get ready to breath fresher air!

Cleaning the blades of a ceiling fan is a yucky job. This can be done quick and efficiently. Slide the case over each blade in turn. When you pull it back, all the dust and debris will fall into the pillow case, instead of on the floor.
